To me, the question of form is the most fundamental one in any artwork. Everything we make is rooted in our understanding—put differently, we cannot truly create something we have never seen before, something purely new. Human progress comes from our ability to transcend what we already know. Therefore, how we use familiar forms to develop a language of our own becomes especially important. I believe the language of art is by no means merely narrative. If it were, then humanity would not have needed to invent a language—art—that is so similar to our everyday spoken language yet insists on being something entirely different. This also points to the idea that art is non-conceptual, something we ought to resist reducing to mere ideas. What I focus on is the phenomenon of environment, and how to use the form of spatial installations to express and explore that.
