Val Thompson
Val Thompson (b. 2004, Athens, AL) investigates signs and the limitations of intimacy in his work— often collaborating with or including other people in the making of his performances, sculptures, and photographs. Recent exhibitions featuring Thompson include “Subversive Pleasures: Mapping the Problematic” co-exhibited with “In Your Face: Barbara DeGenevieve” and “Processing…” at Space 01 gallery.
I sustain a multi-disciplinary practice that explores the limits of the art object, belief systems, sexuality, and the body. My work builds on the potential of failure through a Surrealist lens.
